Dr. Yohei Funakoshi in Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine has reported his research on a method for evaluating immune response to SARS-CoV-2 vaccine using BCR Repertoire analysis in "British journal of haematology".
In this paper, they performed BCR repertoire analysis after mRNA vaccination in patients treated with recombinant SARS-CoV-2-specific antibody drug that cannot be evaluated by conventional serological tests, and reported a method for quantifying SARS-CoV-2-specific antibodies at the mRNA level by matching antibody gene sequences with the SARS-CoV-2 specific antibody database.
This method can be applied to the evaluation of various viral infections and vaccines, and can also be used to determine neutralization/non-neutralization, or specificity to a virus strain.
